In 2020, we created a non-profit volunteer organization where Neighbors can help each other flourish, assisting with every day needs, as well as walking beside people in need to address the most urgent of the bedrock issues at the base of their crisis. Loosely, KNP works with people and organizations in the towns that serve the Kearsarge, Andover and Sunapee school districts.
The simplest form of help is connecting Volunteers to Neighbors, for a task that needs to be done on a particular day. Examples might be a small home repair or a yard clean-up, giving someone a ride, a friendly phone call, or delivering a load of emergency heating wood or a hot meal.
The second level of connection is where a small team of volunteers works with a household on a longer-term basis, supporting them to pinpoint the issues that underlie their needs. Together they make a plan to find resources, do some budgeting, and work on moving the person or the family to a more stable, sustainable place over time.
Our third level of connection is collaboration with other area organizations to do an analysis of needs in the region, then work together to address them. We are working on issues such as housing, heat, isolation, transportation and food security. For more information, please see our website: KNPnh.org .
