Gear Up Homeschoolers is a 501(c)(3) non profit homeschooling enrichment co-operative in Warner NH. We aim to inspire lifelong learning in a community that is supportive, safe and accepting, where creativity and curiosity thrive. We plan to do that through providing opportunities for the Kearsarge area homeschooled children through an active mentorship program, workshops, clubs, community service, and events to enrich the homeschool experience.
Gear Up is the only purely secular homeschooling organization in NH. Meaning we will never use religious material/curriculum to teach children. We also mean this to be inclusive, as in all religions, regardless of what they believe are welcome equally, this includes those that live without religion.
We have a clear and defined non discrimination policy. All alternatively educated students are welcome at GU.
We are a NH incorporated nonprofit and are recognized as such in NH and through the IRS.
Gear Up is a completely volunteer run cooperative organization.
We have over 30 member families with over 50 students participating every Friday. Ranging from Pre-K through High School.
We meet every Friday afternoon from 1-4. We hold 3 class sessions (1:15, 2:05, 3). During each session we aim to hold 3 classes split by ability/age (pre_K-3, 4-8, 8-12).
It is a vital part of our mission to keep this accessible to all students, so we have a membership fee waiver if needed. To this end, we currently only charge $60 (2018-19) per family per year to attend.
We are not a drop off facility. Parents/Guardians are required to be on campus and engage in someway that fits their comfort and ability.
Our Mission and Vision: We aim to inspire lifelong learning in a community that is supportive, safe and accepting where creativity and curiosity thrive. We plan to do that through providing opportunities for the Kearsarge area homeschooled children through an active mentorship program, workshops, clubs, community service and events in order to enrich the homeschool experience.
Gear Up is a secular group that provides a safe and inclusive environment for all homeschoolers. We use the third floor of the Old Graded School Building, Main Street, Warner. Every Friday, there are three sessions of classes for preschool through high school. Members enjoy activities and social time in a wide variety of topics including:
Poetry Out Loud
The youngest members of Gear Up are also given the opportunity to teach classes in our Peer Instructed Program (PIP). Every child that wants to can teach a PIP class. They are some of the most exciting and interesting classes of the year!
In 2013, a group of Kearsarge area homeschoolers decided to create an enrichment cooperative for local families and students. In order to keep things organized, we soon developed the Executive Committee that was tasked with taking care of Gear Up business. In 2015, we incorporated into a non-profit and our Executive Committee became the Board of Directors.
